Halls of JusticeParticipantHello,
I do not know if this is the right place to ask so I apologise in advance if this question does not belong here. So, I have a small epidermoid cyst close to my right. The cyst is located in one of the deepest skin layers. It has been there for 5 months now. I am pretty sure it was caused by a ‘skin trauma’. This means that I have squeezed several pimples in that area and damaged the skin while doing so. Currently the cyst is about 3 mm in size but I can clearly feel it with my fingers.
I have tried several home remedies but they do not seem to have any strong effect on the cyst. My question is: could acupuncture get rid of the cyst completely? And how long will the treatment take? So, I understand there are no guarantees but I would love to get an indication. For example ‘most of the time these kind of cysts respond very well to treatment and are gone in 2 – 3 weeks or so’.
Thanks in advance

ZKeymasterHi, welcome to the forum!
what kind of remedies did you use?
Cysts can be hard to get rid off – acupuncture can help speed up the process, but you should avoid using common table salt (iodized salt) and fizzy drinks (they are high in salt). Using bamboo salt or sea salt that has been baked many times instead – you can get roasted salt from Hmart (korean grocery store, in UK and USA and other countries).
Another thing is if it is deep, is to massage the area with a massager or with hands – around and on the area – if it is very big (which i know some can be) – then surgery is a better option.
Taking salt baths (epsom salt) for 20 minutes a week will help for smaller sized ones.
This will prevent and get rid of the cyst, but will require long term changes, and prevents further cysts from being formed (as you are prone to getting more cysts).
Hope this helps

Halls of JusticeParticipantThanks for your reply. I have tried castor oil, aloe vera gel, turmeric (internally and externally), witch hazel and tea tree oil. Like I said it is 3mm in size so really not that big but still annoying. Interesting to hear that acupuncture can speed up the process but do you know how long it would take in my situation, to get rid of it completely. Given that I have a healthy lifestyle.
Thanks in advance!
P.S. I just spotted a mistake in my original post: ‘So, I have a small epidermoid cyst close to my right eye‘ Forgot the word ‘eye’.

ZKeymasterIt is difficult to measure time frame it takes, usually we keep applying treatment (treatment depends on acupuncturist and their system they practice) until the problem is resolved. This can take a few weeks, to several months.

Halls of JusticeParticipantThanks. Well, I just have to consider if I want to start an acupuncture treatment. I have read positive results within a short amount of time (2 weeks) but I guess this will not always be the case. Several months is not exactly appealing but yeah I still want to get rid of this thing.

ZKeymasteryes I understand, it totally depends on the style of acupuncture, so it is difficult to say without diagnosis (consulting in person). hope this helps however.

Halls of JusticeParticipantThanks for your help, at least someone took the time to read and reply. It does help, if no one would take the time to read and reply then I would never get a clue.

Halls of JusticeParticipantOne more question. You say massaging the area can help. So I am willing to try that. But can you explain a bit more about massaging? Like, how long should I massage the area, how often, how hard/gentle? Would love to hear your thoughts on the matter.

ZKeymastermassaging as you would normally, soft and firmer is good enough and harder if it feels right. the main point is to increase circulation to the area to help speed of breaking down, cysts are signs of poor circulation sometimes, and higher toxicity.
you can even use a handheld massager (there are several types on amazon) and they are also fine to use.

Halls of JusticeParticipantOkay thanks I understand and have already started doing the massaging as you describe. So one last thing, how much time (like 1,2 or 5 minutes or even more) should I massage the area each day?

ZKeymasteri would probably do it for 10 minutes or so, and build up to 20 minutes a day when you have time.
hope this helps =)
