treating new or unknown diseases with acupuncture?

I wanted to understand how a senior and experienced acupuncturist will handle an unknown disease or condition. will they simply refer to a western doctor or what will they do?

average acupuncturist should not handle cases they don’t know anything about, you can end up messing up something which could have been fixed.
but if you know your diagnosis correctly, such as using the Donghan pulse diagnosis method, then a way to treat would be to treat the symptoms the patient is suffering from – treating symptoms will eventually end up fixing the condition on many cases.

But it is vital all doctors, be it acupuncture doctors or western doctors, they must understand that staying within what they know, and not try to do something they don’t know for sure.
