aminaParticipantHi everyone,
I was wondering, conditions such as paranoid schizophrenia or other psychiatric conditions- where patients can have auditory or visual hallucinations as well as anxiety and other things- what is the process of treatment for these? I understand that it is going to be complex as there can be a combination of both organic and psychological factors, but what are the different things which would be considered for treatment? And are these different for children/ teens with these conditions?
if anyone has any insight on this, that would be greatly appreciated,
Amina

DannyParticipantOften what is diagnosied as schizophrenia is sometimes a problem with the body itself instead of the brain. so in acupuncture, the connection between the organs is treated, and the flow of the pulse is smothened out as much as possible.
I don’t have enough knowledge to really explain more, and would suggest such seriousl questions be taken to a clinic or someone in a better position to advise.

ZKeymasteragain, as with other things, this needs to be diagnosed with pulse diagnosis. Often things that are something in western medicine, are not even relevant to eastern medical terms. so there is nothing i can say that can help with this kind of situation, as it depends again, on each patient.
but as Danny said, evening out the pulses is what is aimed for.

aminaParticipantthanks for your replies.. i thought as much. 🙂
from what ive seen, theres almost always a traumatic psychological trigger for these things- it’s an interesting example of how thoughts and physical health are interlinked i guess.

ZKeymasterYeah, many people find it hard to believe when I talk about it. but if you simplify, and take an example of someone scared (emotion) because of a reason (thinking), they change their body physiology at that time, and done long enough, changes you as a person.
so other emotions and thoughts will do the same. sadness for example is known to have a link with cancer; this of course does not conclude all cancer is caused by it, but we can say it can be a contributing factor (as well as external influences).

aminaParticipanthmm thats a really interesting explanation. and yes, i’ve seen a fair bit of research on the link between depression and poorer outcomes in cancer treatment.
thanks a lot for your reply!
